anti-aging without botox and filler

Everyone wants to age like Kim Kardashian and JLo. Many get mad when Kim Kardashian and JLo don't credit the things that they have had done. I agree they have had procedures done and their aging isn't a result of olive oil. However, I don't believe that there is a surgeon, injectable or Laser that is good enough to keep them looking that flawless. I believe that 80% of what they look like has more to do with lifestyle habits and the occasional collagen stimulation treatment. You see I believe that there are things that they have tried to tell the public regarding health and beauty and many times it is ridiculed because it's not the answer people want to hear. It's not a magic pill, injectable or surgeon. While we are a medical spa and we offer Botox, Filler, Kybella, PDO threads and other procedures our priority is the most natural and hollistic way to reduce the appearance of aging and we are looking for long term results.

I'm sure you know someone who has had a hard life and it shows in on their face. Some people say it jokingly but our bodies are meant to have a balance surviving (your bodies stress state) and resting. when our body is constantly being stressed it isn't allowed to focus on giving you glowing skin because it perceives that there are more important things that it could be doing. such as counteracting all of the harmful substances that it comes into contact with. Taking away some of these stressors from your body you may be freeing up some time for your body to help you out aesthetically and in many other ways.

Avoid UVA/UVB and blue light

The sun is easily responsible for causing 80% of our signs of aging. Avoiding the sun at peak times, wearing a sun shield and and wearing a good sunscreen can keep you looking young! Jennifer Lopez, Jlo said in an interview with Dr. OZ that she avoided the sun in her 20s and 30s.

  • Use sun shields. My favorite are from https://www.bluestonesunshields.com/

  • Use SPF. Specifically a physical sunscreen which means that it reflects UVA and UVB light instead of holding on to it and heating your skin. Ingredients such as oxybenzone, octinoxate, octisalate, octocrylene, homosalate and avobenzone are all systemically absorbed into the body after one use and all shown to be harmful. For this reason it is important to use only sunscreens that use physical ingredients like zink and titanium dioxide. In my opinion the absolute best is Sunbetter TONE SMART SPF 75 sunscreen lotion as it is a physical sunscreen and prtects against UVA, UVB and Blue light. • Use blue light glasses.

Sufficient Calcium and Vitamin D

The first thing that begins the downward shift of out face is the loss of bone structure. Once we begin to lose bone structure our fat pads lose support and begin to shift inward (medially) and downward. Our fat pads support our muscles. The muscles in our face act almost the way a see-saw works. When we are young the muscles in our upper face are just as strong as the muscles in our lower face. However, when our fat pads start to descend and the muscles in our upper face that lift no longer have the support they used to, the muscles in our lower face that pull start to take over and literally pull our face down. By maintaining your bone structure you delay this cascade. Women, especially women on hormonal birth control are at an increased risk of bone loss.

Avoid smoking and drinking out of straws

Smoking reduces the collagen formation, results in collagen degradation and reduces the skin circulation. Additionally, nicotine reduces the skin thickness. All of these reduce skin elasticity and cause premature aging. The way you have to purse your mouth to smoke and drink out of straws causes those pesky smoker lines.

Love your Liver

Your liver is responsible for detoxification. Avoid or limit things that are hard on your liver. JLo reported in an interview with Dr. Oz that she does not drink and has never been a drinker.

Clean up your environment

  • Add air purifiers to your workplace and home. Your body comes in contact with so many things in your everyday life. You can't possibly avoid all toxins but getting rid of some of the toxic things in the environment that you spend the most time in will help your body tremendously.

  • Add a water filtration system to your home. to find out what may be in your water supply visit https://www.ewg.org/tapwater/

  • Trade plastic for glass as this can have tremendous effects on your hormones. balanced estrogen gives you glowing skin.

  • Avoid herbacides and pesticides. There are many hormone disruptors in herbacides and pesticides. It has found that atrazine a weed killer can cause male frogs to become functionally female, or hermaphroditic. In humans, atrazine disrupts the male and female hormone systems.

Buy organic and avoid things that are present in foods that can change the way our body works.

  • Buy organic especially when you buy these fruits and vegetables especially when buying strawberries, spinach, kale, collard greens and mustard greens, nectarines, apples, grapes, bell and hot peppers, cherries, peaches, pears, celery and tomatoes.

  • Avoid Folic acid. As humans we require folate to help our bodies methylate properly. When optimal methylation occurs, it has a significant positive impact on many biochemical reactions in the body that regulate the activity of the cardiovascular, neurological, reproductive, and detoxification systems, including those relating to DNA production, neurotransmitter production, detoxification, histamine metabolism, estrogen metabolism, eye health, fat metabolism, cellular energy and liver health. Folic acid is the synthetic form of B9 (folate) that is added to foods (only here in the US). It binds to our receptors but has no function within our bodies and because it binds to our folate receptors we are then unable to benefit from folate found in our fruits and vegetables.

  • Avoid Nitrates and nitrites- preservatives used in cured meats. Nitrites can form from nitrates and have been linked to stomach cancer, esophageal cancer, and possibly brain and thyroid cancers.

  • Avoid Potassium bromate - a possible human carcinogen added to flour used in packaged baked goods.

  • Avoid Propyl paraben - a preservative used in pastries and some tortillas. It causes developmental and reproductive harm

  • Avoid BHA Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA), is a preservative used in cured meats and other foods. Multiple sources have identified it as a possible human carcinogen.

  • Avoid BHT Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT)- a preservative found in cereals and other foods. It’s a chemical cousin of BHA and is a possible human carcinogen.

  • Avoid Tert-butylhydroquinone, or TBHQ- a preservative used in Pop-Tarts and other processed foods. It may harm the immune system and weaken the effectiveness of vaccines.

  • Avoid Titanium dioxide is a color additive used mostly in candy. It can damage DNA when ingested

  • Avoid Brominated vegetable oil, or BVO- used to stabilize citrus flavors in sodas and fruity drinks. It can cause neurological harm.

  • Avoid PFAS-- PFAS are used in food packaging and are known to leach into the food itself. They increase the risk of cancer and damage the immune and reproductive systems, among many other health harms.

  • Avoid Artificial colors-Synthetic food dye can be found in many types of food and beverages. They can affect development and cause behavioral difficulties in children. There are seven we’re especially concerned about: Red 3, Red 40, Yellow 5, Yellow 6, Blue 1, Blue 2 and Green 3.

  • Avoid Artificial sweeteners-Artificial sweeteners can affect the hormones that regulate metabolism and have a negative effect on weight control.

  • Avoid Heavy metals-Many baby foods contain dangerous levels of heavy metals, including mercury, lead, cadmium and arsenic. Exposure can slow growth and development, increase cancer risk and lead to behavioral and learning difficulties. Most metals get into food through water and soil pollution.

Get your beauty sleep!

  • Get 6-8 hours. When we enter deep sleep, our body enters recovery mode and produces growth hormones. These growth hormones create new cells that help heal our skin from any damage done during the day. There are a few apps that will rate the way you sleep I use the sleep cycle app.

  • Don't use your electronics an hour before bedtime.

  • Don't charge your phone next to your bed

  • Sleep on your back. The average head weighs 11 lbs. Literally the weight of a bowling ball. When you sleep on your stomach or side you are scrunching up your face and then putting that amount of force is almost like ironing those creases in. The average person will sleep for 229,961 hours in their lifetime.
