Laser hair removal has come a long way since its inception in the 1960s. Decades of practice and innovative discoveries and advancements in the study of permanent hair removal have brought us here. For this reason, we are so excited to finally be bringing it to you, our patients.
Traditional Laser hair removal works by emitting a beam of light that is absorbed by the pigment in our hair. This light beam terminates as heat which results in the pain often associated with the procedure, sometimes described as a rubber band snapping against your skin. This can create a significant barrier for patients being compliant with their treatment, as many dread their upcoming appointment as they anticipate the procedure being painful. With these challenges in mind, we set out looking for a machine that could offer our patients so much more than traditional IPL machines.
With advancements in technology, we are proud to offer innovative and comfortable laser hair removal using the new Motus AZ. Due to its Alexandrite laser, this machine uses a different source from traditional IPL machines to emit its wavelength, and that’s where the difference lies.
In the past, patients with deeper skin tones were considered to be poor candidates for laser, as the pigment within their skin would absorb the light. This can very often lead to burns or changes in their pigmentation in addition to underwhelming hair removal results. The promise of the alexandrite technology is that we can now offer treatment to a wider variety of skin tones and types, and can safely, effective, and comfortably treat our patients with deeper skin tones.
